Generating Images

EpicDraft can generate reference images — a face for a character's lookbook, a mood frame for a storyboard panel, a location plate — without leaving the app. Image generation is a Pro feature.

Where you can generate

  • The add-media dialog. Anywhere you can add an image — a Library page, a lookbook, the Media library — the dialog offers three sources: from your device, from a link, or Generate.
  • From a page's own context. When you generate from a character, location, or story page, the prompt is seeded with what the page already says — so "portrait, natural light" is enough; the page supplies who it is.
  • Storyboards. A storyboard panel seeds the prompt from its caption and the scene it is anchored to.

On your device, or remote

On-device generation runs entirely on your machine: pick a model in Settings → AI, download it once, and images are produced locally with nothing sent anywhere. It is available on macOS and iOS; model sizes are a multi-gigabyte download, and the settings card shows whether a model fits your device before you commit.

Remote generation is strictly opt-in. EpicDraft never routes an image request to a remote provider on its own — even with remote providers enabled for text. The only way a remote service ever generates an image is if you pin one to the Image task yourself in Settings → AI.

Where the images live

Generated images are media assets like any other: they appear in the project's Media section of the Library, can sit in lookbooks, storyboard panels, page bodies and table cells, and stay on your device (or sync peer-to-peer to collaborators) — EpicDraft does not host your media.
