Using Magic Inputs

Magic Inputs put AI directly into form fields, so you can fill out characters, scenes, outlines, and other story details without typing everything by hand. Any field with a button is a magic input.

The controls

  • ✨ Generate fills the field from the context around it — the character you are describing, the scene it belongss to, the rest of the form.
  • Regenerate asks again. Repeating without editing in between automatically raises the creativity a notch each time (up to a cap), so successive drafts actually diverge instead of circling the same answer.
  • The ‹ › arrows walk back and forth through every draft the field has produced, so a regeneration never loses the version you liked.

Rich text fields

Longer rich-text fields — character descriptions, outline bodies, page sections — get the full editor treatment on top of magic fill: ✨ AI Suggestion (Shift+Tab) continues from your cursor, and ⌘J opens an AI command scoped to that field. The same gestures work here as in the screenplay editor.

Which model answers

Magic fills route through the Field suggestions task in Settings → AI — short answers that should feel instant, so Auto prefers fast models. Pin a specific model to that task if you want a different trade-off.
