Using Settings

Open Settings from the EpicDraft menu, with Ctrl + ,, or from the gear icon in the file panel's tab row — the gear jumps straight to the File settings. Settings are grouped into four sections — Application, User, Admin, and File — and which groups appear depends on whether you're signed in and have a script open.

Application

These settings apply to the whole app and are saved on your device.

  • AI — Enable AI features and choose providers and models. See Enable AI.
  • Appearance — Choose the UI type and mobile UI, a theme (Auto, Light, Medium, or Dark), the side-navigation position (left or right — changing it reloads the app), collapsible scene sections, and an accent color; there's also a Reload App button. Zoom isn't a setting — use the View menu's ⌘+ / ⌘-.
  • Language — Set the interface language. See Languages.
  • Sounds — A single Mute application sounds switch.
  • Paper — The default paper size, element spacing, and auto-space behavior for new scripts.
  • History — Automatic version saving: Save versions as I write, every N changes and/or every N minutes. See File History.
  • Notifications — System notifications and a notification sound on this device. See Notifications & Mentions.
  • Cloud Sync — Cloud backup and cross-device sync, a Pro feature. If your Cloud Service has lapsed, this page shows a renew notice. See File Sync.
  • Folder Sync — Sync your scripts with a folder on your device. Requires sign-in, plus either the desktop app or a browser with File System Access. See File Sync.
  • Privacy — Two independent switches: crash and error reports (on by default) and usage statistics (off by default). The page lists what is never collected, and you can reveal your anonymous install id.
  • Updates — The current version and its release notes.

User

These appear when you're signed in.

  • Account — Your subscription, and deleting your account.
  • Profile — Your public writer profile. See Profile.
  • Security — App lock and resetting biometrics. See Security & App Lock.
  • Notifications — Choose which events notify you, and optionally add a verified email channel. See Notifications & Mentions.
  • Invites — Manage invitations to collaborate.
  • Dropbox — Connect a Dropbox account.

Admin

Visible only to the app's founder account — moderation and configuration tools.

File

These appear when a script is open and apply to that script only.

  • Paper — The script's format (story mode) and columns, plus paper size and element spacing. See Story Modes.
  • Language — The document language, and screenplay font downloads. See Languages.
  • Security — End-to-end encryption (enabling it is a Pro feature) and biometric unlock. See Security & App Lock.
  • History — A per-file override of the version-saving cadence, and a readout of how much disk this file's history uses. See File History.
  • On mobile, Sharing and Submissions also live here; on desktop you reach them in the file area's Review tab instead. See Sharing & Collaboration and Submissions.

On narrow screens the settings navigation collapses into a drawer; mobile has its own Settings screen that pushes each page.
