Teams & Organizations

An organization groups the people and projects of a studio or writers' room. An admin buys seats, invites writers into them, and the studio's projects are listed in one place.

Organizations are on the web and in the desktop downloads (Windows, Linux and the macOS download), where purchases go through Stripe. They aren't offered in the iOS, Android or Mac App Store apps.

The two plans

  • Team — up to 20 seats.
  • Enterprise — 21 seats or more, with no seat limit. On-premises infrastructure is available on request, with 24/7 support by email or phone.

On both plans, every seat is a Pro account, yours included. A seat doesn't give someone Pro: each member needs their own Pro.

The Subscription tab (Settings → Account → Subscription) shows both plans under For teams and studios. Set up a Team takes you to Settings → Account → Organizations. Contact sales on the Enterprise card opens Talk to us about Enterprise: give your work email, the studio or company, how many seats, and anything else, then Send. We reply by email.

Creating an organization

Open Settings → Account → Organizations while signed in.

  1. Under New organization, type a Name and choose a Plan: Team or Enterprise.
  2. Choose Create. Nothing is charged here.
  3. In the new organization's card, under Seats and billing, enter how many seats you want and choose Buy seats. Checkout goes through Stripe.

Seats renew yearly. To change the seat count after buying, contact support. A Team can't go past 20 seats: ask for more and the button becomes Upgrade to Enterprise. An active Team also has an Upgrade to Enterprise button of its own.

The card shows the plan, whether it is Active, has No seats yet or has Ended, and how many seats are in use, for example 3 of 5 seats in use (1 invited).

Members

The Members list shows each person as Owner, Admin or Member. Invited marks someone who hasn't accepted yet. Pro lapsed marks a member whose Pro has ended.

To invite someone (admins only):

  1. Type their email under Members and choose Invite.
  2. They see the invitation in Settings → Account → Organizations, under Invitations, with Accept and Decline.

An invitation holds a seat until it's answered, so the count can't go over what you bought. When no seats are free, Invite is off and the card says No seats free. Buy seats below. The person you invite must already have Pro to accept: if they don't, they're asked to Get Pro, then accept.

  • Remove takes a member out (admins only). The owner can't be removed.
  • Withdraw cancels an invitation that hasn't been accepted.
  • Leave takes you out of an organization you joined.

Projects

A project owner can list a project under the studio. Open the project's Share… dialog and choose the organization in the Organization field. The field appears for the project's owner when they belong to at least one organization.

  • The project must have synced to the cloud at least once first.
  • Listing a project doesn't change who can open it. Access is still set by the project's own sharing, with invites and roles.
  • The organization's Projects list shows every listed project. The project's owner or an organization admin can Remove it from the list.

Choose None in the Organization field to take the project out of the organization.
